Old Crowns (OC) 1016 Case Vs. Raffles 1016 Case

Disclaimer: This post is not to discredit Raffles. They are value-for-money, budget-entry builds. OC is a case level up from Raffles (beyond budget). Hence, this post serves the purpose of letting you make an informed decision.

Here are some noticeable features, all in my own opinion. See the photos for yourself and make your own judgement.

OC case is empty, i’m still drying the crown tube after fixing.

Raffles case is thicker at 14mm, OC is slightly thinner by 1.5mm at 12.5mm.

Raffles lugs are fatter, OC lugs are slimmer

OC has the gen spec correct drilled hole lug size

Raffles caseback is thicker (more pie pan), OC’s caseback is thinner (less pie pan).

OC xtal sits lower

OC bezel is thinner

If you ask me, the difference is quite worth it given the 6-7 times price tag over Raffles. OC case doesn’t have a tube and a crown.

There might not be a need to spend a higher cost on viet. The OC case does just fine, although it is sterile, but we are on rep game, so it doesn’t matter that detail.
